Today by Suzanne Franin

Hey Everyone Suzanne here

This was a fun little project for the Memory Maze Blog with colour but also my favourite rust and owls

Make sure you visit our Facebook page so you don't miss out on anything new

I started of with the Door Wire Stencil and some crackle paste on a mini canvas I set it aside to dry on it's own as it has ha better crackle when you do this

Once the background was dry I used some Colour Blast Colour Artist Ink in Citrus, Slipper and Spice

Dripping the colours down the canvas and adding a little water to spread the colour over the whole canvas

Then with the 2 piece vintage oval frame I painted it with some brown acrylic paint then some Rusty Paper Paint dabbing it randomly then I added some Frank Garcia Memory Hardware Artisan Powder in Trianon Patina in random spots

I cut 2 of the outer Hearts a pair so they sat in each other then used the Artist Inks again to paint them

I painted the flowers behind the owl with the citrus as it needed some more brightness behind the owl
The owl I used Frank Garcia Memory Hardware Artisan Powder in Umber, Clay and Black and mixed in a bit of Colour Blast Colour Spray Mocha and the leaves I used the Grass Artist Ink

From the Globes set I took the little vintage timer out and painted it with Artisan Powders and then a bit of the Mocha Colour Spray and a bit of Cobalt Shimmer Dust mixed with a fair bit of water

I added a few white flowers because you can never have enough flowers LOL

Sewing Tin by Suzanne Franin

Hey Everyone Suzanne here

This project is for the Memory Maze Blog where you can find so much inspiration and see so many of the other products that they make because each Design Team member get different things to use

Here's a fun tin I made for a sewer using the Make Your Own Steam Punk Set I love this set it has so much in it
I was going to grunge it but then I thought I'd use may favourite colours instead - red, orange, pink and yellow they make everything happy and bright

I've made a YouTube video of the process

I had this tin that someone gave me I think it was from last Christmas cookies and I thought it was a perfect size for all your sewing bits and bobs I have about 3 small containers so this should work fine

I started off by painting the everything with black gesso including all the embellishments
Then use Art Extravagance Texture Paste Graphite with the Mandala Doily Stencil randomly over the tin
Once that dried I then glued some old pattern making paper down with Art Basics Clear Gesso

Then I glued each piece down with the Helmar Premium Craft Glue
I added some pieces of muslin for some more texture then painted that with the black gesso as well

When everything was dry I used Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust - Lollipop, Amber, Sunflower and Candy with a brush flicking the powder randomly over the tin then I sprayed water over it
It gave a beautiful shimmer but once they dried it just left a shimmer and not much colour because of the black gesso (they work much better on lighter colours) so I got out the Colour Shimmer Cubes -Tangerine Dream, Sunflower, Fire Engine, Blush, Lipstick and then some Bling for some added shimmer(which are no longer available from Colour Blast but I do know there are still a few online stores that have them)
They mixed great with Colour Simmer Dusts and added extra colour over the tin

Book Cover by Suzanne Franin

Hey Everyone Suzanne here

My turn on the  blog today and I thought I'd decorate the front of a book I got cheap out shopping the other day

Make sure you check out the rest of the blog for great inspiration from the Design Team and see what's new at the Memory Maze Website as the Boss seems to have a great imagination and brings new things out all the time

I'm not sure if I'll use this as a note book or as an Art Journal yet but I'm sure it will get used eventually

I found this book in a store for $5

I then used black gesso with a roller it gave it such a smooth finish

In this corner I added a paper clay ceiling rose a metal piece and the Mini Frayed Edge Chiffon Rhinestone Flower Light Pink with a few little white flowers
The pink chiffon flower is so pretty I could use it on everything LOL

I started buy putting the Scribble Frames Two and Embellishments down, I added a doily then added some straws that I cut at different lengths, I then put a silver metal circle under the Owl Swirly
I added the key to the side and some muslin to the other side

I used some Pineapple Fusion I won from The Resin Rainbow it came with a whole bag of goodies then I added a paper clay ring of flowers over the top to make it look a bit like a wreath on a door with a little resin heart
Along with the paper clay key hole
Then I added the Wrought Iron 30 to look like some iron work on the door

I added lots of the timber bits that you get with your canvases and then added one of the globes from the Globes set

I used a metal that had diamonds around the edge and added some flowers along with some Mermaid Beads

I had some of the Chicken Wire Small I cut it into two pieces and used it in two of the corners of the book
I used a metal corner and added a glass bead as well as some Mermaid Beads and some Diamond Gems

I love flair buttons and this one is from Flutterby Designs
The little camera was from The Resin Rainbow as well
I went around and added bling and Mermaid beads where I thought they were needed

Then I used some Finnabair Art Alchemy acrylic paint that's gone a bit thick- I used my finger, so I rubbed it over everything then I used some Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust in Lollipop that I have made up in a bottle with water spraying as I went till I was happy with the finish
And I glued everything down with Helmar Premium Craft Glue

I had a tassel so I attached some string so I could use it to mark what page I was up to in the book

Butterfly by Suzanne Franin

Hey Everyone Suzanne

This weeks project I created a canvas with a quote that I  think a lot of us should listen too especially me

Make sure you visit our Facebook Page Memory Maze to see what's happening and keep up to date with what's going on

The photo is very dark so I wanted to go with soft colours to make it look how we should feel after the change - different

It's a simple canvas with not a lot on it but I wanted the quote to speak for itself and the embellishments. just to soften it

I started off by using the Door Wire Stencil in random places on the background paper (I love this stencil it works with anything you're doing)
I then mixed a bit of Colour Blast Colour Paste -Blush and Sunshine each with a bit of water to make a thin paint consistency so I could make it drip through the lines of the stencil the Sunshine worked great but I think I put too much water with the Blush

On the Butterfly Corner Flourish I spritzed some Colour Shimmer Dust in Sunshine first and then a little bit of Lollipop I have them made up already in bottles very lightly over the top

With the Heart with Wire insert I spritzed that with the Colour Shimmer Dust in Peacock for a contrast

Here you can see the Sunshine Colour Past in the grooves of the stencil

I then just finished off with my favourite embellishment - flowers and some tiny metal pieces and that's it
