A Merry Christmas to you all

Good morning everyone.  Well the countdown is on to Christmas.  The children are getting excited, The tree is up and we a re in the process of making cards for all their school friends.  Today I am sharing two cards that I created using the totally awesome Memory Maze Chipboard.

................

I had lots of fun playing with these designs.

Silent Night

This first card is super easy to do.  I painted all the designs in black distress paint and let dry.

While it was drying I created my background by using three colours of distress ink and blended them in to give me my background of a sunset.
For the big star I covered it with distress glitter.  I love this glitter, such a vintage feel to it.,  once ever thing was dry I glued them all down.  To make the frame stand out I covered it in a thin layer of glossy accents.

...............

Let t snow :-)

I can not take credit for the design of this stunning card.  It has been totally inspired by the one and only Tim Holtz.  I have changed the stamping to Chipboard and love the overall effect.

For this card I broke down one of the snowflake boarders into individual snowflakes,  painted them with distress paint and then added a think coat of distress glitter to make it look like snow.  I added a pearl into each of them.

I am a layer girl and I love all the different layers on this,  hard to believe there is 11 layers to get this effect.  But well worth it and the snow flakes make this card.

Amanda Lawrence - December Part 1

Hi all! I'm back for December to share some more festive projects using Memory Maze chipboard. For my first post this month I have a layout and a card to show you all.

With your nose so bright

Last year the kids were given blinking light up reindeer noses as gifts from Santa when they went to see him at the shopping centre for a photo. I was lucky enough to snap this photo at the exact moment the light blinked on! I framed the photo with one of the nested inverted corner squares.

I've used some of the chevron chipboard covered in patterned paper to hold part of my title, the word 'bright' from the word sheet. The word is coloured with Tim Holtz distress paint.

I've also used a star from the 12x12 sheet and covered it in the same patterned paper. On top of this I have used a reindeer which is coloured with distress paint and gesso. I've finished him off by adding a red rhinestone and a tiny gold bow.

I also scattered a few extra stars around. These were also coloured with the distress paint.

Merry Christmas Card

I made this simple yet elegant Christmas card using some of the 3D stackums. There is such a huge range available and they make cardmaking a breeze!

I simply cut out and layered the shapes together before mounting them on some patterned paper. I added this to my card front, a simple bow and it was nearly done.

I finished off with some clear rock candy and some gold kindy glitz. You can see the layering in this close up and also how I have slightly curled and shaped the petals.

I hope that gives you a little inspiration for your festive projects!
See you again at the end of the month

December from Susan

It's how many days 'till Christmas!! I love this time of year and always take lots of photos so now I have a few Christmas albums. I have found that Memory Maze chipboard features in a lot of my layouts as it is so easy to work with and you can do so much with it.
Best Buddies
As I often take series of photos I like to make double layouts to fit in all the photos. These photos are of my husband and grandson and I love the interaction they are having.

I layered the fussy cut flowers with the chipboard pieces to create a frame around the photos.

This word banner is part of a set of 9 banners. I used marker pens to colour it in....quick and easy!

The large lily was coloured in with a marker pen to give it a base coat of colour then painted with glitter paint. The center was embossed with embossing powder.

The 2 corner pieces are from a larger set so you get lots of wonderful pieces. I embossed this with Distress embossing powder then embossed in patches with the glitter embossing powder for a rustic look.

Another quick way to embellish the chipboard is to ink it in one colour and then ink the edges in a darker colour to give it a shadow effect.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
Each Christmas I like to make a decoration or two for our home. I used the same base piece for each of these decorations but did a girl and a boy theme. The other chipboard pieces are not Christmas themed but were painted to fit in with the decoration colours.

The decoration on the left was base coated in Distress Stain in brushed pewter. The frame was painted in Smooch-taffy and the swirl in Smooch-grape.
The decoration on the right was base coated in Distress Stain in tarnished brass. The star was made from a banner that was cut down and bent to create the star frame. It was coated with Radian Rain in spiced pumpkin. The small plaque was painted with Adirondack Acrylic dabber-snowcap. The numbers and the crown were painted with Smooch in blue and gold.

Welcome December - Tracey Campbell's Reveal

Christmas with Tracey

Oh my goodness Christmas is almost here. Seriously 2013 just flew by in a wink of an eye. This month I got my hands on some of the deliciously yummy Memory Maze Christmas Range and let me tell you I was spoilt rotten with the choice, just click on this link to take you to all the Christmas Chipboard that is available.

"Magical"

Christmas to me is a great excuse to grab out all that glitter in our stash and to create some magical chipboard pieces. To get this look on your chipboard apply some Dimensional Magic and coat thickly with glitter, carefully pick up the chipboard and tap off the excess glitter. Once the Dimensional Magic is dry the glitter will be firmly in place.

A few photos of Bronte when she was a cheeky two year old.

A close up of the tribal boarder that has a Christmassy look to it and the numbers.

The Christmas Tree looks stunning with a dark green glitter applied.

  "Christmas Angel"

For this layout I wanted to use non Christmas chipboard and give it a Christmassy feel. So I have used some scrolls and mushrooms and enhanced the Christmas vibe with the colour and some cut-out paper holly leaves. All up even though the chipboard isn't traditionally a Christmas designs I think that I have given the page a festive feel.

Because I wanted a mainly red, white and green layout I painted all the chipboard with white Gesso.

Add a few stars and some holly leaves and the wrought iron chipboard gets a really festive touch.

For the toadstools I added a touch of pink water colour paints to the stalk to add some dimension.

Altered Art and Memory Maze Chipboard (a perfect pair)

Hello and welcome back, Donna here with you today glad you see you have made the web trip to come visit us here at Memory Maze.

Have you heard the news...........  We are having a DESIGN TEAM CALL OUT!  yes that's right.  Do you love chipboard, working with an amazing Company and being part of a very talented design team.  Then you need to go check out the call....  HERE  This call is open to all  Australian and New Zealand, talented Scrapbookers that can work magic with chipboard.

Well it's been a very busy month for me here in New Zealand,  getting classes organised, projects finished, the kids (5) and thinking about Christmas.  We have two birthdays before Christmas so I have been working on a project for my daughter Jade who turns 8 tomorrow.  I have also made another doily Christmas decoration for our tree.   Hope you enjoy

                                         "JADE"

I love going to op shops (second-hand) and finding objects to give a second life to. I found this little mini dresser which I thought would look awesome altered.  I started but applying a very thick layer of gesso as it was uneven and letting it dry.  I did not attempt to make it all smooth but instead I left it all messy.  After it completely dried I added a layer of white paint and then my favourite blue, let it dry and then added white again to give it that shabby look.  Then the fun begins.  I collected an assortment of goodies to go on top.  I really love the Memory Maze butterflies, and the vintage frame.

I glued the frame to the mirror and then added some paint, let it dry and started to embellish.  I know the frame does not fit perfectly but I really liked the look.

For  the Memory maze chipboard I painted the lot the same as the dresser and then choose some sparkly embossing glitters to make them pop.

Adding more embellishments :-) for the cogs I painted with copper distress paint.

Here is one of the butterflies :-)

I made this for my daughter Jade, so I added her name.  Do you know how hard it is to make letters stand up in the air!  It took a while but I got it in the end.  I painted up some of Tim Holtz bingo bits and added a small lace around them to blend them in.  Then I spent a while holding each letter while the glue dried :-)

and another stunning butterfly on the vintage frame with some Devinne flourish with a bling pearls.

I hope she likes it :-)

..............................

"Doily Bliss"

I had so much fun making the last Christmas doily decoration that I had to make another.  Its such a lovely idea to do and is something you will be able to get the kids to help with.  I got one Memory Maze doily and and another Christmas themed one and painted them all in a light coating of gesso and let them dry.  What this does is gives them a coating of white which you can then go back on once dried and use your favourite pens to added colour.  My favourite pens are my distress pens.  I was able to apply colour to highlight areas.

After I coloured I added some more embellishments.  I added the lace to the outer edges and bling !

That's all from me today.  I hope you enjoyed and please remember to go check out the Design Team call out.  This chipboard is totally amazing and comes in so many different designs.  Take care,  happy scrappin and I can now say Merry Christmas xox Donna
