To Come Alive - Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafter's,

Elisa here from the Design Team again with a colourful Art Journal page featuring some lovely Memory Maze Chipboard and a grunge stencil.

I wanted to achieve a different look with this Art Journal Page with the colour and texture only in the background whilst keeping the gorgeous Chipboard white, clean and simple.

To achieve this look i gesso'd the chipboard pieces white and laid them aside to dry. I have found a wonderful gesso in a spray can and is a life saver!!

I then tore strips from the Newspaper and included a title of To Come Alive which i pieced together from the Newspaper, I then gesso'd over the top of the newspaper to provide a bit of texture.

Then i used Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts and a splatter technique, splatter drips and drops of the gorgeous shimmer dusts which you have diluted with a small amount of water all over the areas in which your chipboard will sit.

I then splattered Bling Colourblast Shimmer Spray as well. I stamped several texture stamps and flower stamps over the top of the colour and then using a palette knife i spread Bling Colourblast Texture Paste over a Memory Maze Stencil.

Here are some close ups :-)

'Live your Dreams' by Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafter's

Elisa here from the Design Team sharing my next creation with you today, a very colourful Art Journal page using some gorgeous Memory Maze Stencils and Chipboard frame and of course some (ok lol maybe lots) of Colour Blast mixed media products.

This Art Journal page started off as a practice page in my Art Journal for the new Tim Holtz Distress Markers and then i  re-purposed the page by adding layer upon layer of Memory Maze stencils and Colour Blast until i had a very vibrant page with depth and texture.

After i added the Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts in Candy, Navy, Lush, Grape and Sunflower (add a small bit of the Dusts and add water) to the right side of the page, i used a circle stencil from Memory Maze with a white sharpie pen on the left side of the page.

Next step was to add Colour Blast Mica Powder to Prima Crackle Texture paste and spread through a mini bubble stencil from Memory Maze with a palette knife.

I also used a white sharpie paint pen to trace around a love heart stencil on top of the watered down Colour Blast Shimmer Dust on the right hand side.

Also spread white texture paste through a chevron stencil with a palette knife and sprinkle the paste while it is wet with Colour Blast Embossing powder and heat with a gun til it bubbles...

With your chipboard frame, colour it with white gesso or a white paint sharpie pen and then add a small amount of Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts to the frame with a paint brush and water. Flick watered down white acrylic paint over the page.

Here are some of the Memory Maze products that i used!!

'Fierce' Art Journal page by Elisa Ablett

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my first official blog post on behalf of Memory Maze!!

I am super excited to be on this Design Team and i am looking forward to showcasing the amazing Australian made products from Memory Maze.

As soon as i saw this gorgeous Lion Stencil i knew i wanted to complete an Art Journal page.

I have alway loved this quote from Shakespeare and i wanted to create a tribal inspired 'fierce' page.

To start, I used gorgeous Dylusions paints to create a very vibrant background, i used an old credit card to spread the paint around my page.

Then i used a Stampendous texture stamp to create some added depth and then used Colour Blast Dusty Charcoal Paste over the Lion Stencil in the middle of my page.

I then used Black Versamark ink to cover my selected Chipboard pieces from Memory Maze and used a white Uniball gel pen to add my title and white accents.

I also added some Acrylic Ink from Daler Rowney to add extra colour to my page around the Lion's head.

Here are some close up's of the page.

Here are the amazing Australian made Memory Maze products i used to complete this project and they can be found at

Celebrating Firsts

Hello and welcome all.  If you have not read yesterdays post click here,  we have added to the Design Team family so please pop by and welcome them.

Amber-Leigh's First Fish
Sally the lady behind the scene who creates all these fantastic designs sent me a 12 by 12 frame a very long time ago.  I have been waiting to use it and today is the day.

My partner in crime is a fly fisher and over the past year he has been taken Amber-Leigh out on a few fishing adventures.  They spend the whole day out and always come back with a trout or two.  This day was super exciting as Amber-Leigh caught her first fish.  She was so proud.

For this project I used Gelato's, Pitt Pens and clear embossing powders. It really was a learning curve as I am still exploring gelato's and loving it.

I covered the entire frame with a very light layer of gesso first so the gelatos would not soak into the chipboard.  Then using different colours and my finger I started to add colour to the chipboard.  on the fishing man I also used a Pitt pen to give some detail.

I used a mixture of browns for the tree

Just thought I would add a close up of my proud fishing team :-)

There is so much you can do with this frame.  For the fish I used a number of colours and then used a pitt pen to add the spots of yellow.

To make the frame pop a bit more I added the blue and to seal the whole frame i embossed it with a super fine clear embossing powder from Wow Embossing.

One of my favourite pass times is to play in my art journal and explore new ideas.  I was playing with sprays and masks for the background of this page and it was so pretty I had to keep adding.

I have used a number of smaller pieces of memory maze chipboard to finish off this page.

I used an embossing pen to emboss the word love with white embossing powder,  I love how you can used the outlines of the words to colour,  I must admit that I need a new pen as the fine tip is a bit rounded now.  After I embossed I added blues and purples and blended with my finger.

I had some left over butterflies from another project, theses have a thin layer of gesso and then painted with distress paint.  I used a font stamp to add texture.

These words were embossed in white and then I added a small amount of blue pitt pen and rubbed around the edges.

Donna O'leary ~ July design team share

Hello and welcome all,  July already!  Half way threw the year, boy its gone fast. I have three projects to share with you all today.  So go grab a cuppa and enjoy.
..........................................................................................................................

JUST FOR YOU
Every now and again I make cards,  today's card is made out of all the off cuts from the following layout.

The Memory Maze Chip Board sayings are perfect for cards.  I have embossed this saying to make it pop.

WINGS

I loved this colour combo of papers and thought they would really suit the photo.  To make the photo pop from the layout I have created a boarder using some of the Memory Maze Boarders which I have added colour foil to them.

The pointy piece of memory maze is the off cut out of a little pack of boarders

ART JOURNAL

Don't limit yourself to adding chip board to just layouts and cards.  Here I have added Memory Maze chip Board to one of my art journal pages.  I love how it makes my pages look layered.

I sprayed my memory maze chipboard with ink sprays and then lightly stamped.  Added some distress ink for high lights and then for the bellies of the birds I added a very thin layer of glossy assents.

Well I hope you have enjoyed my projects today.  Until next time,  Happy Scrappin everyone.  xox Donna
