Decemeber reveal with Alicia- Part 2

Today I have my second project to share with you for the month. I have used a few different chipboard pieces this time, and tried a new technique.

She is beautiful.

I cut an ornate oval frame into two sections to arrange around the photo. I covered all my pieces in Distress paint to start. The frame and title were then coated in silver embossing powder.

For the butterflies, I applied a coating of white mica fragments, and then coated the whole thing in dimensional magic to seal it all in.

I applied rubons straight over the top of the embossed surface. They went on surprisingly well.

December reveal with Alicia

Today I have something a little different to share with you. I have been building a fairy garden in our front yard with my daughter. We have trees and stumps and lots of spaces for fairy doors.

If you are part of our Memory Maze Facebook group, you may have seen some discussion around some new items Sally has been making that would be great for fairy gardens, and this particular door came up, so I thought I would try my hand at turning this one into a new addition to our garden.

Fairy Garden Door

This door comes in two pieces and is made from chipboard, so to make it weather proof for the garden (well hopefully), I began by applying a thick coat of Mod Podge to seal it. Next I ran the base piece through my embossing machine to give it a nice texture. I then painted it in brown. I applied a layer of metallic embossing powder and heat set.

For the top layer, I painted in black, then applied Metallic dimensional paint over the top. I glued the two pieces together, then attached some decorative hinges. I added some gold paint dots down the side to simulate rivets.

It wouldn't be a fairy door without pretty flowers, so I added some of my smallest flowers down the side. Next I coated the whole thing, front and back, flowers included with lots of Mod Podge to seal once again over the top.

Some of the flowers did discolour a little more than I had hoped with the Mod Podge, so as a final touch, I coated them all in some translucent glitter.

I hope the fairies like it.
