Jodie with her first DT post for Memory Maze

Let me first start by introducing myself. My name is Jodie Mason, and I am a wife and mother of 3 beautiful kids, a geriatric cat, adorable Labrador puppy and half a dozen chooks. Crafting has always been in my life, and now that I am a mother I am cherishing being able to pass some of my knowledge and skills on to my children. Now let’s get into it. To begin with I have a Birthday card that I made for my 2^nd child who turned 7 yesterday. It was a really quick card as I was under the pump with this one. I have used pieces of plain cardstock in black and grey for the bases of this card. Dies were used to cut the shapes out of the black and grey card and a piece of watercolour cardstock was placed behind the shield shape window (it was coloured with several alcohol inks). There were 3 Memory Maze chippies used on this card; the Happy Birthday, Crazy Kid and Best Wishes sentiments.

 

The Crazy Kid chippie was painted with light green acrylic paint and then covered with green kindy glitz and glossy accents. The HappyBirthday sentiment was painted with Lumier acrylic paint in indigo, and then topped with glossy accents. Check out how much shine this can add to a chippie in the pictures.

 

On the inside of the card the Best Wishes sentiment was coloured with green alcohol ink and then covered with the green kindy glitz again.

 

The edges of the grey card were all inked with brown stazon ink. Once all of the pieces were prepared they were pieced together and Hey Presto!

The second item I have for you today is a canvas. Now I will worn you that this has quite a few steps and pictures to it, so check back in this afternoon for that one.

Hello and welcome to my first ever post as a member of the mm design team.

This canvas was created by first using mm stencils and texture paste.

I then added some mists and allowed to set, whilst this was happening I sealed the mm cross and assorted mm butterflies with gesso and then outlined them with liquid perfect pearls in gold and silver.

Using a thicker canvas I decided the edges were in need of some personality, I added some texture shapes with the mm 6 x 8 butterfly stencil and let it dry , I them stamped them with dark charcoal ink to the butterflies.

I have added brass corners and feet to the canvas so that it can stand  on its own.

I have used glitter mists and semco sprays to add the needed color.

The quality of the mm products allow you to do so much, this has been a great project to work on.

Creative Process continues with Toni

Good afternoon, I trust that you've all had a lovely day so far.
Mine of course has been filled by my two boys.
Classroom helper for my Preppie and running around with some Swimming Rep forms for my new High Schooler. Who even though he has a broken thumb, still managed to get selected into the District Rep Team side.

 

Thank you for coming back this afternoon, the creative process continues as I share with you a Canvas made featuring a photo of my Grandma in her younger youngers and a gorgeous Mannequin chipboard piece.

 

 

Don't worry, this post is going to be shorter than this mornings introductory post.

Again, I'll start with a photo of what I gather together for the project.

I was actually at my Mum's house when I created this. She has all the best goodies, so I had fun making this one! In fact, my boys like scrapping with my too.

 Hunter assisted (or directed) with this particular canvas.

 

The first steps where to cover the base of the canvas with gesso.

Next I layered the chipboard, ribbon and some strips of paper, then covered it all in gesso again.

There are also 3 different mist colour sprays on here too.

For some extra texture and dimension, I used a plastic picnic knife edge to spread the pastes.

 

After the gesso applications, Hunter and I went out to play with the Cows and Horses on my Mum's farm. It was a good way for me to pass time allowing the pastes to dry. I'm a very impatient crafter!

 

Since this canvas is very white on white, for the pops of colour I've used some cute flowers.

The Creative Process with new DT Toni

 

Good morning Memory Maze friends.

I'm new DT Toni and today I am here to share with you a layout that I'm hoping you'll love as much as I do.

As an introduction to me though, I wanted to share with you my creative process. 

  Here is my finished project, now please sit back and relax with your morning coffee while I take you on the strange journey that occurs in my world each time I craft.

 

This is what I started with.

A few different ideas and products out, but the general design is laid out.

 

After playing with some gesso on a grey base and B&W newsprint it just wasn't working. So I looked over and this gorgeous "Bluebird" cardstock was calling out to me. A little below it was the perfect tissue paper script print. I can't believe I didn't notice these to start with.

 

Next was to layer the tissue paper, pattern paper and the pattern paper with some Gesso pasted.
You'll notice of this DT term, that I quite like to play with products to create my own bases. 

I love a messy look! Most of my creations will have edge distressing and inking.

 

As I mentioned before, my general layout design stays roughly the same.

 However the products always seem to change.

 I found these cool adhesive florets, they suit this colour scheme so well.
How and why didn't I see these from the start too!

 

Since I wanted to paint the chipboard wire Silver, I knew I had to balance it somehow.

So out of the 3 different bling swirls, I chose the Rhinestone Crystal design.

 

When I colour chipboard with Silver, I like to ink it first.
The Ranger Adirondack alcohol ink is my favourite to use for a bright and shiny finish.

 

Mummy's Boy, I chose to colour with a "Pinecone" refill ink.

 It's quite thick so I don't need to ink the chipboard first. The title came out a bit darker that I had expected, so I used some Vanilla, Olive & Lagoon Blue inks to lighten and highlight it.

But don't forget to clean off the ink pads afterwards, otherwise they will stain the dark brown and wont be much good next time you want to use them.

 

Here are a couple of quick close up's to showcase the clusters on each side of the photo.

The photo contains my beautiful oldest son Lane and I at his Grade 6 Graduation last year.

The journaling tag expresses my honour of being the Mummy to this wonderful boy.

 

 

 

Finally, I can't sign off without introducing myself properly-
I'm 28yrs old. I have two boys, aged 11 and 4.
Lane has just started High School, Hunter has just begun Prep. They are both into swimming and AFL.

I love to craft with all kinds of paper craft but don't have a "style" other than impatience. I like to have some music on while I'm crafting, unfortunately for my son's that usually means that I'll be singing along too.  

I collect Fairies, have a Dog and Guinea Pig.
I am a Chief Steward at the Speedway, very active on all the boys sport committees and school P&F's.

Tracey Campbell's Reveal

Hello. I am glad to be back with some more fantastic ideas and uses with the ever wonderful products from Memory Maze Designs. Now it has been a while since I have shared any creations with you so this post may be a bit long....so grab a coffee and enjoy.

 

The first layout I created is about my two daughters having a lovely time in one of Darwin's Beautiful Sunsets...so I wanted to highlight the photo and draw the colours out in the photo with the background. To do this I used one of the Memory Maze stencils, some white gesso and mist.

Picture Perfect

The title words "Sun Kissed" was the perfect attachment to help emphasise that the photo was taken out in the Sunshine.  For the title I applied some Dimensional Magic to the Chipboard and then dipped it in some gold micro beads for a lot of texture.

I wanted to leave some of the chipboard pieces raw, as the colour of the raw chipboard reminds me of the sand here in Darwin.

For the layering under the photo I used the lace square as the bottom pieces, which I simply misted black, I then used the square from the Picture Perfect Polaroid centre and left it raw to match the Precious Arrow. The Picture Perfect Polaroid Frame was first painted in white gesso and then given an obre effect with Gelatos'.

Well one of my goals for 2015 was to get a bit more arty....so I have started on the 52 Journal challenges from on Facebook - there will be 52 prompts (one each week) that we use to inspire us. I thought what a great way to get down and messy with some of the chipboard and stencils that Memory Maze stock - the chipboard is of the highest quality and can stand a flogging....which it will need for in my journal. :) And as for the stencils, well they are so flexible that I can use them for creating backgrounds and highlighting focus points on my creations.

As I wanted the words to be part of the design I covered them and the cover of the journal in white texture pant and then sprayed the texture flowers in a large amount of mist, which I encouraged to run down the page and over the chipboard words.

Just Be - Page in Art Journal 

How cute are these tiny little micro bees. I just had to use them on my "Just Be" page. I simply black heat embossed, which gave them a glitter look...but for some reason I wasn't happy with them as I wanted them to be glossy...so I applied some Dimension Magic over the top.

One of the great things about Memory Maze chipboard is the high quality of it. I can shape it to suit my needs. For example here I used the word beautiful and curved it to run along the wave in the hair of my girl.

Here is the finished design - a beautiful art girl .... who just wants to bee!!!

Pathway - Art Journal Page

My very first attempt at art journal and my very first page in this 52 Journal Challenge. I used a sun burst stencil with a fine spay of gold mist - such a great way to draw attention to a focus point and some of the embossed sea shells.

Here is a close up of the sea shells so that you can see the fine embossed detail that Sally gets into a lot of her chipboard pieces.

Australia Day 2011

I couldn't let Australia Day come and go without doing a layout about it and with the range that Sally has in the store there is an Aussie piece for any creation.

 

For this pieces I wanted to emphasise the embossed word Australia so I inked over the Country with a red ink and then traced over the embossed word with a black marker. For the word Day I simply painted white. Such an easy way to create a stunning title.

Well the year has  gone by one twelfth. Who can believe that today is the first day of February.

Memory maze  is back on the road and we are all looking forward to  a fantastic year. Lots of chipboard, lots of color, bling, stencils and cards

My turn to post pieces today, I have used our handmade paper and chipboard to create a little girls page. All pink and pretty.

 Lots of bling and  ribbon for this page ,just pink.

For my second piece I have used our new 12 x 12  chipboard frame.

 I had an amazing  amount of fun doing this piece. 

   

 This 12 x 12 gives you all of the  pieces to complete a comprehensive

 layout, or stretch it out to 2 pages.

I have used a spritz on the page for color,using the diamonds on the  kit as stencils to give the diamond effect.

I covered the  chipboard with paper and cut it out.

On a second one I  completed, I spritzed the frame wit a great effect.

I have colored the smaller pieces with a silver Ink pad.,

 and stamped  in silver in a few places.
