Boy's Birthday Card

Hi, it's Jodie here again to share with you another boy's birthday card. After seeing Toni's post from earlier on last week, I decided to take a leaf out of her book and keep this one fairly simple. I also wanted something that could easily be generated in an evening. On going through my Memory Maze stash I found a few pieces that I could see going together to make a birthday card for our nephew who's 7th birthday is next week. I started with a light grey card base and pulled out my Kaiser Craft paper pad and selected a few papers that I liked. These were cut down to size and some were embossed using my Big Shot. This is the layout that I was originally planning on doing.

 

I used the Birthday Party and It's a Boy chippies and cut them up so that I could have birthday boy for the card. The leftovers made It's a party, so I decided to use these on the inside of the card. The words were all coated with yellow stickles to prepare them for the card. With the BMX chippie I placed dots of different colours of alcohol inks on my non-stick craft mat and then added a few spritzes of water to help activate them. I then placed the chippie face down on the inks and let it soak up the colours. Here is a picture of how it turned out.

 

 

Then it was simply a case of adding a bit of brown ink to the grey card base to grunge it up a bit, and stick everything down.

 

 

Here is the finished inside of the card, all ready to be written on.

 

 

And here is the front of the card. Please excuse the white glue drops around the chippie pieces as the glue was still wet when the picture was taken, but these will dry clear. I also decided to add a layer of glossy accents to the top of the BMX to help it stand out a bit more after this photo was taken.

My Little Girl Book ...the start

My Little Pink Dress

These are the first two pages to my little pink dress chipboard book using Memory Maze chipboard and hand made papers.

 

 



 

 

 

This is the board book and comes with four pages, I have also used a several  Memory Maze hand made papers , rhinestone embellishments and mulberry flowers also available on our website.

 

 

My first step was to cover the chip board edges with satin bias ,

 

I then made templates for the dress, apron and packet for those pages that will have a little pocket to hold cards and notes.

I then set about decorating my page I have added MM handmade paper , flowers and embellishments to form one of the pages of my little pink book.

This is the lower half of the first page of my little pink book.

I have added color to the white flowers with memento ink pads.

 

With the second page I added chalk ink to the edges of the chipboard to add something different from the first page.

 

This page is a little different from the first it is again decorated with MM hand made papers the bottom of the dress is a pocket and I have added some little tags to the apron.

I hope everything that has been effected by the Cyclones in Qld and NT are on forging ahead with their recovery at the moment.

 

While creating my DT project this week, I went through my usual process of completely overthinking! I even went for a trip to the next town to get some crafting supplies.. Didn't end up using any of them of course. As I was sitting there staring at all my awesome goodies in front of me, I felt a little overwhelmed.

 

 I know that many of us work, those that don't are still very busy with volunteering or other happenings.  So with this in mind, I emptied my desk and started from scratch!

I wanted to make something with minimal supplies that we all have.. The other criteria I gave myself was less than 1 hour to complete it. So many of us are time poor, but still need a creative release at the end of the day, so I hope you all enjoy my quick share today.

I started by cutting up the "Myahm small" chippie design from my old MM stash and painting it black with Crackle Paint.

 

Next was the base page was splattered with some red mist using a paint brush..
*Normal red paint will give the same effect if you don't have a Mist Spray..

Here is the base with the chippie positioned strategically underneath where the photos will be.

 

I used some Acetate frames on top of the photos of my awesomely talented boy. This was Lane in the Pre-Lim finals for U13. *They went on to win the Grand Final also! He was one of only two U11 to play up an age group in the Finals. 

 

The AFL football was heat embossed red and white to represent the Sherrin football.
This from my own stash of Memory Maze goodies, however since it is many years old, I couldn't find the packet or the information for it.. BUT here are some more fabulous FOOTY chippies currently available from MM.

Regulars to my blog know well that my littlest boy Hunter is an avid crafter also. While creating this project, he was happily giving me advice and input.

 

In finishing today, just a quick recap so you can recreate something similar at home after a long day or even at a crop or scrapping retreat..

 

1. Splatter the base cardstock with mist or paint.

2. Cut up your chosen MM chippie design, paint / colour it.

3. Place MM chippie in positions so they will pop out from under your photos.

4. Stick down photos. (use an Acetate overlay also if you wish)

5. Complete your layout with other embellishments as you wish.. *Additional MM chipboards / flowers / bling / title / journaling

Puppy Love 146mm x 88mm

In the Puppy Love layout. I used the puppy love chippie and one of the hearts from the 12x12 heart packs. 

The heart and word love are done with Dimensional Magic then glitter poured over the top. Press the glitter into the Dimensional Magic then shake off the excess. The dog and bone is left in its raw state. The word Love was inked white then stamped with a teal color with the dots.

 A thick layer of Rock Candy Crackle paint was applied and left to dry and crackle.

February reveal - part 2 with Alicia Barry

Today I am back amongst the rain and the wind to add a touch of colour to the blog. With the weather being so miserable, I figured a little touch of brightness was just what we need.

For this card I have used an ornate frame to create a focal point on my card. I have used plain colours for the background to make the bright bold print and colour of the frame really stand out.

 I covered the frame in bright pink ink, then coated he whole thing in Crystalina stickles. I  then I added metallic melts embossing powder in three different shades to select parts of the frame, allowing the stickles to shine through in parts. Once dry, I also added some dots of dimensional paint around the edge. 

 To help the title stand out, I simply inked in bright pink, so it would pop out against the frame.

February reveal with Alicia Barry

Hi and welcome to another reveal post. This month, the design team have been challenged to share a step by step post on creating a particular technique using chipboard.  I have created a project where I have taken a decorative frame and turned it into an interactive window shutter embellishment for a layout.

First, I started by coating the whole piece in gesso to give me a good foundation for the rest of the products.

Next I sponged on teal and brown distress ink using a blending tool. I used a darker brown for the edges.

Next I cut the frame in half. I took some scraps of chipboard and cut them to fit the frame. I inked the pieces in brown and used an embossing folder to create the wood texture, before adhering to the back. I added a little strip across the bottom of each window as a window sill. 

 I added some tiny metal trinkets and snaps as the handles.

I added tiny leaves and flowers to the window sill, and attached it to my page using hinges. 

And here it is all finished on my page. The shutters open to hold a photo.
