Altered Book Photo Frame and Card by Jodie Mason

I hope that this post finds you all well. I will warn you that this is a pretty photo heavy post, so you may want to grab yourself a nice drink (a warm one if the weather is anything like it is here).

Altered Book Photo Frame

I have had this idea stored in my head for some time now, I just needed the perfect opportunity to create it. So while doing up my sister-in-laws wedding album the other week I thought that I might be able to surprise her with a bonus photo frame also. This is what became of a hard cover bible that was found in a second hand store. I have used a mixture of white glue and water to position each of the pages and hold them in place.

An oval was cut out of a number of pages to provide the photo section. A piece of cardstock was stuck down to the page behind the cut out section. On top of this I have placed a piece of folded up non-stick baking paper and some cling wrap.

The chipboard pieces were glued down in addition to some plasterers tape and the whole thing given a good coating of white gesso.

I added a few sections of a white rub-on border strip to the title chipboard piece and several sections of the book. Then it was time to get 'down and dirty'. I love this bit! A spritz here, a squirt there, a splash or a dash anywhere. (Check out my blog here for the exact products and colours used).

Then add some flowers and hey presto!

My mother is headed for an operation to remove some carcinomas in the next few weeks so I thought that it might be nice to put together a little card to send to her to brighten up her day a little.

The flowers with the holes in the center have had the layers separated and then dried with a heat gun to give the layering. The flat chipboard flowers have had a coat of white gesso and a white rub-on added to them. All of the flowers have had Adirondack alcohol ink in sunshine yellow and cranberry added to them. It is amazing what a difference a simple staple like gesso can make to colours. The flourish has just been painted with a green liquid acrylic paint.

Today we have Melissa celebrating with a beautiful Baby Girl Layout.

Hi Everyone. 

This week I decided to create a frame for a friend at work who is about to have a baby girl in a couple of weeks. I already knew the colours that she has in her nursery and wanted to create something really girly and pretty. I found these gorgeous papers and thought this Sweet title would be perfect for what I had in mind.

I didn't want the Chipboard pieces to detract from the whole piece overall so I just covered them in Distress paint and left them as is. 

 There are so many different little pieces that I have added in such as resin flowers, ribbon roses, glass flowers and rhinestones.

 I am so happy with how this piece turned out and My friend was over the moon with it. She couldn't believe that I put the whole thing together. It was the best compliment a crafter could ever be given.

For my second piece I created a simple layout with a  cute little bicycle and Sunshine title. I loved the rustic feel of the colours in this layout and the copper colours in the brass flowers.

The bicycle and title were painted with Twinkling H2O's. They add such a gorgeous shimmer to chipboard and are so easy to use.

Life is beautiful canvas (video) & boy stepper card - by Toni Herron

August is so lovely here in Queensland, Australia. We are very lucky and blessed that is it perfectly never too hot, nor too cold. It is really quite nice to send the kids to happily play outside while I'm quietly able to get some crafting done. 

This first project carries on with that feeling of loveliness and nature while showcasing some wonderful Memory Maze chipboard pieces on the small 130mm x 130mm square canvas.

Double sided stepper card

For my second project today, I wanted to share something that my youngest son Hunter (5yrs old) had quite a creative input into. This is the first stepper style card I have done and honestly only made it  "just for fun". 

The base for the card was actually quite quick and I look forward to creating some girl themed ones with more detailed embellishments and techniques in the near future, and hopefully share those with you too.

Although we made a stepper card, I have great visions of this chipboard set being used in a Card In A Box style product also. 

But for now, I had fun with some Twinkling H2Os on the chipboard pieces. 

These are the pieces we used.

Frames and Flourish with a Zip by Kim Kendell

Hi All  today I am sharing 2 layouts with you. I have used chalk stamp pads to colour the chipboard, how clever are the amazing zippers.
