Steam punk style grunge journal

Hi everyone Jan here today with a
PUNK STYLE JOURNAL cover.

First I took a medium sized hard covered notebook and painted it with gesso

This is the cover once it has been painted with gesso and a layer of texture paste has been added with a memory maze Rose stencil.

Once I had layered the roses I started to add layers of tissue paper, lace and other items to build the look I was after.

Here I have used a chipboard title saying your time to shine,

Once I had done this I laid out some of the brass  items and other things I had on the cover and glued them down.

I have used pieces of chipboard left over from other projects to add to the effect I was looking for.

I have then painted it again with gesso and started to add layers of color.

I have used several other pieces of our wonderful chipboard including

the word friend and title its your time to shine.

Please keep a look out for more of our design team projects coming soon.

Mixed Media Tags By Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafters,

My turn up on the Memory Maze blog today with a couple of Mixed Media Tags using the new range of awesome tags that Memory Maze has just released!

These are a little close to my heart as I was lucky enough to help design the new range of tags.

The Tags are made out of heavy weight chipboard and can take a whole heap of heavy mediums and embellishments perfect for mixed media or use as a fancy ATC!

The first tag I created  'Create Boldly' uses the 'Classic' top tag along with small squares of chipboard reused from another piece (the negative leftover pieces) and also the new Glimmer Magic Dust. The dust can be added to any medium and leaves a lovely shine on your project.

Here are some close ups of the Tag

The Second tag 'Stay Weird' uses the filigree top tag, along with some grungy mesh chipboard and teal microbeads all available from the Memory Maze Shop

 Tag,0,Chipboard filigree, 145 x 70mm pack of 5

Days gone bye mixed media canvas

Welcome to 2017 and another wonderful year for creation and Memory maze, Jan here with some ideas and processes for my days gone bye mixed media canvas.

I started with a 9.5 x 11 inch canvas(24 x 28cm) and covered it with white Gesso, I then added a number of stencils from the Memory maze stencil range and added texture paste also some lace with texture paste to add different levels to my canvas.

This is the 0008 ROSES, LEAVES STENCIL

After I had prepared the canvas I printed an image I had purchased and added to a sheet of Memory Maze 12 x 12 chipboard

I printed the image and then added it to the sheet of chipboard with of podge and then cut around the image.

Once I had cut around the image I then laid it on the canvas and started to chose some items to add to the image, as I had still been adding to the actual canvas I had added black Gesso several layers of silver and gold rub and buff and some Lindy's sprays to add some sheen.

Once I had positioned the image on the canvas I then secured it with hot glue.

I then started to add some chipboard and assorted items to form the ladies hat.

I then added several more layers of flowers beads pearls lace etc. until I had the desired effect I was looking for.

Flourish Swirl and Beauty Butterflies were also added from the memory maze range.

The flourish was painted with alchemy acrylic paint in gold and then silver added with rub and buff.
The butterflies were heat embossed with a range of colors to match.

I am really thrilled with how this project has turned out she has been embellished with many of my own hand made flowers and I have added a number beautiful filigree brass pieces also available at memory maze.

Please keep watching for more of my future projects.. Jan

2017 Diary

Welcome again to another month.
February is here and I am first up on the Memory Maze
blog. I bought myself a boring black diary for this year with the intentions of decorating it.
Turning it into something beautiful

Firstly I painted around the edges of my diary with some white gesso.
I had to give it two coats to cover the black.

I had some scraps from a Kaisercraft range left sitting on my desk.
I covered the back, front and spine with the paper using matt medium as
I knoew I wanted to use media on the front.
Then I took some more scraps and collectables from the same range
and placed them on top of each other
until I was happy with them. Stick these down as well then I curled the edges.
I used some light molding paste and a circle mask
Placing this all over the front of the book.
I sprayed the three colours letting them dry between coats.
I stamped the background using archival black ink and a script stamp also went around the sides

I painted my chipboard with white gesso and then used embossing powder
to emboss them.

Memory Maze title Our Little mate, I used distress paint on the title I then

I also used the Memory Maze wrought Iron Corner they come in a packet of 2, but I only used
one of them to the top left of my photo. I embossed the corner with the same rustic embossing powder, and I used a metallic Gelato to highlight it and bring it in with the title.
