Hello Crafters,

I hope you have all been busy creating and playing around with your chipboards.  As the weather here in Aus. has been rather cold, lots of time has been spent inside trying to keep warm, which of course, gives us more time to be creative.

Firstly, I would love to share this story of my 'epic fail' and 'rescue' of my Memory Maze chipboard.

I was organising an activity for my grandchildren over the school holidays which was 'Coloured sands Jar' which involved making the sand from salt and covering it with chalk to make different colours.

I then put glue all over my chipboard and went about sprinkling the 'sand' all over it.

and here is the final result which I was not happy with and leads me to continue the story........

I kept telling myself 'no mistakes in scrapbooking' and with the help of the fantastic Memory Maze chipboard being so strudy, I set about scraping off the whole top layer once completely dry.

Well girls it worked a treat, sanded it back a little and then painted it again with Metallic paint and applied some Inca gold and .................

 'EPIC RESCUE'.....Don't you agree?

For my next work, I have created this layout for a friend.
  

I have used the 'baby's bottle' and the Nappy Pin from the Memory Maze Baby Set and I applied glue and white flocking on the bottle and  on the teat I have used Metallic Melts embossing powder. 
 

 

For the pin I used metallic silver embossing.  The Memory Maze chipboards are just wonderful for embossing.

Hi and welcome to another new product reveal from Memory Maze. This is a brand new off the page project available from the store right now.

Biplane project

This plane is made from sturdy MDF board. It come in pieces with cut notches, making it super easy to assemble. The finished project is around 12 inches sqaure, giving lots of room to decorate. With so many pretty projects around for little girls, I am excited to have something for my little boy, who is obsessed with all things aviation.

 To assesmble, simply click the pieces into the matching notches. I did add some glue to hold it all in place permanently. I used a combination of ink and paper to decorate my plane. 

A couple of things to remember:

•  The notches are designed to fit tightly, so any additional paper etc in there will make it difficult, so be sure to use a craft knife to cut away those areas. 
• The main wing goes through the slot in the fuselage. Adding paper first makes this super tight. To avoid damaging the paper, trace and cut first. Thread the MDF through first, then thread the paper through on top, and glue into place. 
• The top wing slants backward. Check you have the struts facing the right way before gluing. 
• Ink before assembling. 

I then used a combination of chicken wire chipboard cut into small pieces, and cogs, all of which were inked, then embossed. I created a little banner across the back of the plane to dress it up a little more. 

You could even add a little silhouette photo of your little one in the cockpit if you wanted, or add a banner out the back of the plane.

Next up is another item that was recently added to to the store, called Platelets. These are so cute and are a great little mini project. They are great on their own, or could be added to a layout. 

I first covered the chipboard in gesso, then added some scruched pieces of tissue paper to create texture. I added small pieces of chicken wire chipboard and some cogs, and again covered in gesso. Next I sprayed layers of paint spray, drying in between until I got the look I wanted. I also sprinkled some metallic embossing powder across the piece. 

  I adhered the photo in place, with some additional cogs sprayed in brown paint, and enhanced with some ink. I also added one part of the title only which I dressed the same way as the cogs. Finally I finished off with some ribbon at the top.

Bling Bling with Melissa Barnicoat.

Hi all and welcome to my post for today.

I have two layouts for you that I recently completed while I was away on a retreat. One is very shiny and very feminine and the other is more of a male oriented layout.

Delight

While I was away I was given this gorgeous silver piece. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. The best part is I only used half of it on the layout so I have plenty more to use on some other creations.

I thought the key was a great little touch to the layout. I covered it with liquid pearls and spread with my finger.

My title was part of a set and was sprayed with a mist. This added some shimmer to the title as well.

Country Layout

My second layout is more for the males and has a country feel to it. I have a passion for the country and loved working with this chipboard. I decided to keep with the raw/kraft feel of the layout and left the chipboard raw but added some ink to the edges of it just to make it pop off the layout

I think a lot of people get worried with their chipboard and think they have to do something fancy with it. Chipboard is lovely just left as is sometimes. 

I also chose to put my fence upside down to how it was designed. It's great to look at a chipboard piece and use it in a different way to what was originally intended.

'SON' with a bit of 'SUN KISSED' by LIZ Hocking

Good day to you all and I trust that you are powering through your scrap booking with this cold weather upon us here in the Southern Hemisphere . 

I have recently returned from my yearly scrapping retreat and after a few days of uninterrupted time, managed to complete a few layouts.

Firstly, I would like to share 

SON

For this project, once all the tearing, inking and texture was added, I used a  Memory Maze Geo Frame, which I treated with coloured gold crackle.

Then I used the Memory Maze 'Sons' chipboard....minus the 's' and did some heat embossing with my new metallic melts.

 Such a fantastic effect on this sturdy MM chipboard.  I hope you agree.

For my next layout, I have created a bit of fun to remind us of those lovely warm summer months.

Sun Kissed

I have used the Memory Maze 'Sun Kissed' chippie. On the words I used my Gelatos, which worked so well on the MM Chipboard.  They stand up so well to all mediums and also water. 

For the sun I used 'Liquid Pearls' which really made it stand out on my layout. What do you think?

You're my princess canvas by Jodie Mason

Hi all. I hope this finds you all well. It has been hectic here for me. Seriously, who knew that cleaning out and resorting craft supplies could be so much work? Lol! It's taken me a full week so far, and I'm still only half way there. I did however manage to find a few hidden gems, that I had obviously put away in a safe place for later use. Am I the only one that does that?

Princess Canvas

This all started out with an idea I got from a crafting group on Facebook recently. They were making little fairies and using flat paper flowers for their skirts. I loved the thought and had the perfect piece of chipboard to work with. I began by sketching a bit of a bodice on the chipboard. The bodice was painted with pink acrylic paint and the remainder with black acrylic paint. I cut some large paper flowers in half and then took an extra one or two petals off the edges. These were layered over the stand to create the skirt. As I got to the top of the skirt I changed from large flowers to medium sized ones, that had been prepared in the same manner. The final 2 or 3 layers were made up of single petals cut from the medium flowers. The petals that were cut from the flowers used, were then slotted in among the skirt to create a little more fullness. The bodice was created by covering the pink paint with white craft glue. Some pink rhinestone flowers were put in place and some small white seed beads sprinkled over the remainder of the glue.

The plaque was die cut from a sheet of chipboard. I've added some liquid pearls to the outside flourishes to add some more dimension. Once this had dried it was covered in 2 coats of gesso followed by some metallic silver acrylic paint. While this was drying I printed out the sentiment on some scrap cardstock. This was cut out and stuck to the plaque. The plaque piece was covered in Emboss-it glue (except where the sentiment is), and this was covered in metallic silver embossing powder.

It’s a Boy Card

This was a quick and easy creation that anyone could do easily (I should know because Miss 3 decided she had to help with most of it!). The blue card base is 10cm * 10cm and was left blank. The white card is 9cm * 9cm and the smaller blue one is 8cm * 8cm. I laid these out on a craft mat and then placed some Memory Maze stars on the top. These had mists sprayed over the top of them, and the chipboard pieces were then removed. These pieces of card were stuck down to the card base. The ‘It’s a Boy’ chippie was sprayed with mists also and then had crackle accents applied to the top of it.
