Welcome to July.
This month I have a little instructional step by step to show you one of my favourite chipboard designs, the layered 3 dimensional butterfly. I just can't get enough of this butterfly as it is so easy to customise the design to complement any page. In my June reveal I used this butterfly, but on a more vintage layout - this time I will show you how to decorate it with a more modern feel.
Imagination
A layout of my two daughters who just love to have their faces painted, on this occasion we have a dolphin mermaid and a rainbow cat.
A close up of a chipboard banner that I have decorated with patterned paper. This banner is wonderful to work with as the line that it is attached to actually bends and is flexible enough so that you can shape it to suit. As you can see in the full layout I have it shaped in a bit of a wave.

Quick Step-By-Step
Separate the butterfly base and the decorative butterfly from the chipboard.
Poke out all the tiny pieces of chipboard from the decorative butterfly - put these aside as you will need some of them to form the body.
Colour in the butterfly with Faber Castell Gelatos - colour with two distinct different colours.
Using a water brush blend the Gelatos.
Repeat with both butterfly pieces.
Adhere the decorative butterfly on top of the base butterfly shape and then
attach the small punched out circles to form the body.
Paint the body of the butterfly with a contrasting colour.
Add the finishing touch of some Kindy Glitz on the wings.

Birdie Love
Our family is one full of love for all sorts of creatures, big or small. This layout is about my youngest daughter and how she takes after her Daddy with her love for any feathered creature.
For the chipboard in this layout I simply used some mist to add colour as the chipboard has such fine details in the cutting that it doesn't need much embellishing at all.
With a bit of twine wrapped around the bottom of the feather cluster to finish it off it ads such an enhancement to any page.

Puppy Love
From feathers to fur - this time the layout is about my love for my fur babies. My newsiest addition to our family, Phoenix my red Alaskan Malamute. I have waited so many years to get a red mally and finally he is here.
I have used Distressing Ink on the malamute chipboard and the wire and a mist on the heart. I actually cut off the words from the heart frame so that I would have just the heart, that is one of the many reasons why I love Memory Maze chipboard - it is so flexible.
Another close up to show that with some 3 Dimensional tape your can layer the chipboard on top of each other and give dimension to your layouts. With the chicken wire I have actually cut out small shapes from the 12x12 piece.

Serving with Pride
This is an all time record for me....two layouts about myself in one post!!! If you didn't already know, I am actually an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy and when Sally designed these chipboard shapes I knew that I would just have to use them.
This one tugs at my heart string, because it is so true of all of the Defence Members - we serve our country with pride.
Because I didn't want to over do this page with lots of creative techniques I have used only a mist to accentuate the chipboard.
