Our Family with Mel Barnicoat

Hi all and welcome to my post for the week.

This week I decided to play with some mixed media and texture paste. I love using stencils and texture paste as it give such a great depth to my creations.
I have used a flat canvas which I covered with Gesso first as a primer. I then used texture paste and a mask. I then cut up some great Memory Maze chipboard and used it along the bottom and side of my canvas. I love cutting up the large pieces and using as their own separate pieces on my work. The remainder of this piece of chipboard I have used on my card.

Once I had added my chipboard pieces which I covered with Gesso, and some flowers, I covered the entire canvas with some great Artiste sprays. When the spray was still wet I wiped most of it off the chipboard pieces so that they were still white but with a tint of the sprays.

My chipboard title was wiped the same way as the other chipboard pieces. Once it was dry I squirted some White Opal Liquid Pearls over it and spread it with my finger so that it had some texture to it.

For my card I used the leftover chipboard piece from my canvas. I covered it with Gesso and then sprayed it with some pink spray. I let it dry by itself so that the spray would settle any way it wanted to on the chipboard. If you spray while the chipboard is still wet with Gesso the spray with be a lighter colour and will take on the texture and direction of the Gesso.

Thanks for having a look at my creations. Once you have finished why not head over to the Memory Maze shop and have a look at the range of large chipboard pieces that you can cut down to use on smaller creations.

Reverse Canvas (video) & Little Mate layout - by Toni Herron

Good day to you all. For this post I have the pleasure of sharing with you yet another canvas video tutorial. However, this time it's a reverse canvas. The photo features my Mum and her partner during a recent cruise. The canvas is flowing with stunning flowers made by Jan MacKenzie and of course a lot of Memory Maze chipboard.  I do hope you'll drop by to watch the making process of this lovely reverse canvas.

Little Mate

For my second project to share with you, I have featured a fun photo of my littlest man Hunter and his favourite Junior Sedan speedway driver.  I had a lot of fun playing with the colour scheme on this page. From the black, whites and greys to the pops of yellow and reds.
For the title I cut the "our" of the top to suit the layout. It has been coloured with both white Gelato and Picket Fence Distress Stain. The tribal piece was coloured with Barn Door Distress ink and both have been finished off with Dimensional Magic.

Wedding Album by Jodie Mason

Hi all. I hope this post finds you all well. Things are busy as usual here, but let's face it when are things not! This time around I have made some items for my in-laws. Fingers crossed they like them. Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think of them.

Wedding Album

The first was a request from my sister-in-law as she has a heap of their wedding photos that are 5" × 7", that are just stored in a box at present (and have been for over a decade)! So the brief was to create something to store the pictures in that would also protect the photos and allow them to be accessed when needed. She knew that the old style of album sleeves weren't any good for your pictures (because of the acid in the glue that allowed you to stick the photos in place), but liked the idea of some type of plastic sleeves to store the photos so that they could be pulled out easily if needed. After assuring her that the majority of plastic sleeves out there these days were acid free and archival quality, she agreed to leave it in my hands.

So I put on my thinking cap and decided to make my own albums for her. I grabbed some project life plastic sleeves in 5" × 7" for her pictures and the rest was up to me. I've cut down some chipboard sheets to create the album covers and covered these in paper, material, lace and binding.
I've used some chipboard wedding themed words to help decorate the front cover. These have all been prepared by spraying with Perfect Pearls Mist (grape fizz) to begin with. The title Wedding word has then been coated in several coats of Zing embossing powder (lavender opaque finish). The remaining words were then stamped with a glue pad and have had Pearl Ex powder in misty lavender (688) lightly brushed over the top, before having a layer of Glossy Accents applied.

To complete the album I've just covered the inside of the album and added some metal rings to hold the plastic sleeves in place. Hey presto! Job done.

 Quick and Easy Birthday Card
In addition to the wedding album I also have a quick, super easy birthday card for you today. It is for my nephew who will be 11 soon. He loves his motorbike, so I thought the Heel Click chippie would be fitting. I have coloured it in with a black watercolour pencil. I used a cogs stamp to stamp embossing ink over it and covered it with white embossing powder. Once heated it gave a pretty cool effect (even if I do say so myself). The same cogs stamp was then used in the background in addition to a happy birthday sentiment.

Frames with Jan Mackenzie

Jan here for my post, just loving these colours, hope you enjoy it too. This is a special page and may very well be added to a canvas.

Making chipboard the hero of the page is what this page is all about. Hot embossing was the technique for the frames, with hand made silk ribbon flowers made on a daisy wheel.
I  used flourishes and  lots of flowers, leaves and brass angel wings.

Amaze Yourself

I have also added some great bling to this page.

"Amaze yourself"  was coloured with a gold stamp pad for effect.

All the Grandchildren all in the one place.

The next layout I have used one of the larger chipboard scrolls to tie in the colours within the photo and the layout.
This has been colored with a pearlescent ink and then allowed to dry to give it that full look.
The scroll is part of one that I have used previously and it was just perfect for this layout.

LIZ HOCKING WITH HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES

Welcome to my latest post for Memory Maze.
Today I would love to share with you my latest creation featuring my beautiful granddaughter, celebrating her 5th birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Firstly, I decided to cut the Memory Maze chipboard and then began working with my Gelatos.  Have I mentioned how wonderful these are to work with on your chipboard pieces?  They do work so well either blended dry with your fingers or alternatively, mixed with a little water.

For the icing on the cupcake, I have used 'Flower soft', which gives a little zest to the Memory Maze chipboard.

ANGEL

For my next creation, I have used a technique shared by our DT member Jodie, using cracked egg shells.  After applying the Glimmer mists, I then applied some Dimensional Magic which gave the Memory Maze chipboard an incredible effect.  Don't you agree?

For the little flourish, a little 'Kindy Glitz' was applied.

Well I trust that you have enjoyed my little journey today and that you will inspired to try something different with your chipboard pieces.

Until next time.....Happy Scrapping
