Victoria Freze - June DT Reveal

Hello dear Memory Maze fans!
I show you a layout and a card today, they are pretty different, but I like them both. Layout is for my friend who had a cowboy style wedding, wearing same cloths and riding horses.

Cowboy Wedding 

I used Cow Roping Horse chipboard for this LO, which I covered with yellow acrylic paint than partly covered with wax and last coat was with brown acrylic. Then I just scrape away paint that was on wax and now it looks like rusty forge. 

This kind of chipboard doesn't need more to add. It just perfectly match the photo. 

Next project is a card with a sentiment which is great for any occasion.

For this card I used Best Wishes chipboard, that is usually goes in a pack of ten and is so versatile that won't  make you bored :)

TO paint it I used three different acrylic paints in order to make it the color I need. That's what I like about painting chipboard. You shouldn't worry about making it too wet, because it's to thick to be drenched and spoiled.

Today I’m going to talk about one of many sources for inspiration: titles. Often the title is thought of late in the creative process, but the title can be the perfect starting point for telling the real stories. Let me give you some examples:

Mother and Sons

 

I was sent these chipboard words: Mother And Sons. Actually I have never scrapped about that theme and it was about time to do it. I browsed through my photos to find a photo of myself and the kids, and found a not so perfect one taken in London, UK, this Easter. But it was perfect for my theme. The journaling tells how fun it is to have kids old enough to enjoy exploring city life, too. If I hadn’t had this title in mind when I designed the page, the layout would probably have had the title Tourists and the journaling would probably be about our stay in London. Quite boring and obvious.

Sweet Dreams

When I see the title Sweet dreams I think of cute, innocent babies. I don’t have that anymore. I have one snoring, farting teenager and one snoring, farting teenager wannabe. But I have cats. And cats have a completely different view than me on the concept of Comfy Sleeping. So the title Sweet Dreams give this layout the perfect touch of irony, showing my youngest cat using a measuring tape as a pillow…

Teenagers

 

The title is the starting point for this layout. The journaling describes what teenagers are like, and the  photos are just illustrations to emphasize the theme.  I think this layout sums up my teenage son’s year better than if I made one layout showing him and his buddy on the trampoline and one with him gaming, with matching titles…

Sharm - June DT Reveal

Hi there! I'm here to share two cards I recently made for my DT stint with Memory Maze Designs chippies. It's been awhile since I made cards cause I've been so caught up with creating layouts and have this super crazy, craving to alter just about anything!

So, without further ado, here are the cards (tonnes of fussy cutting I must warn you)

First one up,

Best Wishes Card 

1) First, I adhered patterned paper to the frame chippie. I only used the square portion of the chippie. The swirly outside was used for another project while the centre oval for the card that's about to follow this post. See how versatile MM chippies are! ;)

2) Next, I dabbed distress paints around the edges and the inside of the frame

3) While waiting for the paint to dry, I fussy cut some details from a patterned paper of choice and adhered to card once dried.
4) I proceeded to paint another chippie titled Best Wishes using the distress paints again and then adhered to the card

Just For You Card

Here's another fussy cut card made using the Just For You chippie

Some scrappy info:

1) First, I adhered patterned paper to the oval shape of the frame chippie. 

2) I fussy cut some details from a patterned paper of choice and adhered to card once dried. I put a banner at the top and a ruler fussy cut at the edge

4) I proceeded to paint another chippie titled Just For You using the distress paints again and then adhered to the card
5) Lastly, I adhered some tissue tape to corner left of the card

June DT Reveal.

Hello Everyone

Kim here in the UK with my June DT post.

Well it's been a crazy month, getting to grips with a new job after 12 years in the last one

Having a small op on my ankle and recovery time whilst getting used to new job. 

And exciting part, getting to do some cards for a British magazine something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. 

Hope every one is doing great and I have been keeping my eyes on the blog , what a talented bunch, great job girls!!

I have 2 Projects for you this month , one is an altered canvas in honour of Father's day here in Britain and the other is a card. 

so without further ado here is my canvas.

It was great fun making this for you guys as I love to experiment with Grunge paste used through stencils and here I used a key stencil then painted it after and highlighted the shapes with Gold Gleams which is a wax to make raised areas shine.
I spritzed the car then went back over with gel pens in various colours and a sparkle one , I used Gleams again on the tree Bulb. I used the pens again on the little Beer bottle.

Next I have a card for you using some gorgeous Feathers. I hope you like it.

I used some Spellbinder dies here in various ways and really loved those feather which I Painted gold and then drew in the white and sparkle to highlight the feather sections.

Here in the close up you can see so much more detail with the sparkle pen and white pen in lines just gently feathered at the ends to make it look realistic.
I layered and raised up my card stock and then used liquid pearls to place small random dots all around the card and waited for it to dry, took a while but the effect was worth it.

Rebecca Lynn DT Reveal

Back for another round of cards with Memory Maze chipboard. I'm getting to the end of my stash (as I try to patiently wait for my next order to arrive!) and wanted to highlight using odds and ends when you don't always have exactly the pieces that you wanted. 

Best Dad Ever!

With Father's Day just around the corner I knew I wanted to create a masculine card using only the chipboard as an embellishment. For this card, I pulled out my chipboard and cut down some of the pieces. Originally, the chipboard said "Best Wishes", and "forever", but I cut off the words I didn't need with a knife and glimmer misted the parts I used.

For this card I again cut up some of my chipboard, this time created what looks like one embellishment, but is actually two desperate pieces. I left the chipboard natural and I love how it just pops with the yellow, grey, and brown colour palette.

With my last card I used up the last piece of what was my favorite piece of chipboard. I wanted to created a feminine, girly card for a friend and I think it looks perfect! 

The chipboard was sprayed with glimmer mist, I love the way it shimmers.

Erin Reed - June DT Reveal

It has been a whirlwind here in the states - end of the school year, mother's day, now almost father's day, getting ready for summer vacation, camps, trips, swimming, and tons of fun in the sun for us Northern hemisphere folks :)  With all these events we have also had a few more - a friend had a baby girl, both of our dogs have passed on, and Fathers Day - with with those events I make some projects from the Memory Maze.

Memories (Rohan) - Layout

This past January our dog of almost 10 years passed away.  I created this page in remembrance of him.  You can see a picture of when he was 10 weeks old (bottom), about 6 months old (right) and 2 years old (with my husband and I).  He had a wonderful life and will be missed. 

For this layout I used layers of papers, findings, flowers, stickers, metals, journal cards, buttons, and the lovely chipboard from Memory Maze.  I glued them all down and painted them with gesso, let it dry, and misted with various types of mists in colors of green, red, orange, and yellow.

 

Here you can see the chipboard of "friends" with I separated out into 3 parts using water - tutorial found on my blog from the recent blog hop we just had,  and the edge of a open window shutter.

 

Here you can see the word "memories", the word "boy" that I cut from "It's a Boy" and then split in two using water - same tutorial as above, and the inside of the the flowered window frame.

Sweet Baby - Card

A good friend of ours just had a baby girl, so when I saw this chipboard piece it immediately thought it would make a wonderful centerpiece for a baby card for her.  Congratulations on you new baby girl!!

For the chipboard I first used markers in bronze, black, green, and light pink to color the chipboard, just like I would color a coloring sheet of paper.   I use markers like sharpies, Bic Mark-its, Copics, Faeber Castell markers, etc because it is easier to do detail work with precision and make it look good compared to paint and a brush.

I then went over the colored chipboard and used Stickles in black, dusty rose, and lime green to color the vines, flowers, and people.  I left the outside border without glitter because I liked the look of the metallic bronze sharpie just the way it was without glitter.

Have a Grrrrreat Father's Day - Card

Every year I love to make cards for all occasions, including father's day.  So this year I had this great 3D Stackum sheet from Sally of tigers and I knew it would be perfect for a father's day card.

 

I used a simple and clean design for the card so the tiger would stand out and be the main focus.  The 3D Stackum sheets are so easy, and this one is no different.  I used my paper trimmer to make nice clean straight lines, inked the edges with black ink, and stacked them up.  I did add my own words I printed from my computer - the tiger reminded my of tony the tiger from frosted flakes, so i used the same "Grrrrrreat" in my title too.

Here you can see the pop dots or foam dots I used to layer each one on top of each other - stacked on each other.

 It is very cool effect and it creates a big impact in the finished product for just an easy thing as cutting!!
