Time Flies

 Hello to everyone out there following the gorgeous Memory Maze Design blog, Kim Robertson here in the UK .

It's my turn to return and post some goodies for you to have a browse through.

I have a really different selection of cards today in that some cards are more difficult than others to create , male cards and sympathy cards are among them I believe so I decided to do just that.

This card I think would be very good for male or female and features the chippie 'On your day' which I sprayed with a cosmic shimmer spritz in gold. Here is a close up view.

I have also used a lot of layering techniques with stamping and embossing and one thing I like to do is to melt ultra thick embossing powder and pour it over things to get an imprint or to pour a puddle on a non-stick surface then stamp into it with heat resistant stamps only (some of the clear ones can melt).

This card I think is definitely male even though I did sneak in a little ribbon on the left with a tassel and a sparkly button.

I have used one of the stackums for this and it is difficult to see details here but I have used a glaze on the lapels to define them a little.

I used the Forever chippie and cute and sprayed it purple and it goes darker to one side , I then covered the whole thing with some glossy accents which gave it a nice shiny coating but also allowed it to stand proud and protect the chippie.

One of the sad things in life and the surest thing too is that at some point we will lose someone special to us or know someone that does, lots of people struggle to know what to say at the difficult time so in my opinion the best thing to do is to write it down but what do we write some people are religious some aren't , some would like lots or words others don't but if you create something like this from the stackums on Memory maze I think it makes it easy for you to then open the card and write from your heart  YOUR words not a generic shop one.

Plenty or room to write on this elegant but simple paper here.

I just outlined a few of the petals with a Sakura pen to just hint at separation in the leaves to let the image of peace and lillies say what you need to at this difficult time.

On a happier note and not forgetting the ladies I used some really pretty papers which I got free in a magazine but it was really good quality ( unlike usual in mags) haha 

I added my stamped image and coloured it all in with promarkers then stamped in the flower cascade with a few flowers shades. added a little ribbon etc.

I used the simple and Perfect 'Happy Birthday' chippie after I spritzed it with a baby pink shimmer spray.

This is the inside which I decided to add a book mark as a little gift rather than the usual inserts.

And of course a close up on the wonderful chippie all sparkly on The Happy Birthday.

I'm back for with another round of fun cards with Memory Maze products! This month, I have a bit of a fun twist that I'd like to share and highlights the versatility of the product. Every couple of weeks I have some very special young ladies come to my house and we usually spend the afternoon crafting. This month, when I pulled out my supplies they spotted the Memory Maze Stack-Ums and were quite excited to try something new. 

3D Card Stack-Ums

Isn't this a fun card?! I love the chickens and the country feel. There is a bit of fussy cutting, but my 15 year old did a fantastic job with that, and layering the pieces together as well.

These cards were made by my girls, aged 15 down through 5. It just shows you how versatile the Satck-Ums are, whether you are an experienced crafter, or just beginning, they are great starting points for any project! We chose to embellish a few of the cards with a few extras, but for the most part, these are all included with the Stack-Ums when you purchase them.

This last card is made by an adorable 5 year old. She had so much fun cutting this out and putting it together. Isn't this darling?

"A Pirates Life for Me"

Of course I couldn't let the girls have all the fun. I joined in on the action as well with this adorable pirate themed Stack-Um as well as joining it with chipboard from Memory Maze as well. 

I cut 3 pirate layers out and with 3D tape stacked them one atop the other and adhered them to the card. The chipboard was sprayed with glimmer mist and even though its a boy card, I love the way it shimmers.

"Happy 6th Birthday"

One last card to share with you all, a fun birthday card for my six year old brother. The chipboard adds a fun dimension and I added another layer by stacking the chipboards. 

I sprayed the chipboard with glimmer mists (again), its such a fun way to dress up the chippies and I can create perfectly matched embellishments for individual projects.

Erin Reed - April DT Reveal

I wanted to play with my chipboard this month, use them in a variety of different ways on different types of layouts.  I played with simple, girly, and grunge/steampunk for a bit of fun.

In March of 2011 Morgan was playing in the backyard and found a four leaf clover.  He was so excited, he could not believe, nor I, that he first found one and second that he found it within 15 minutes of hunting right in our own backyard.  So cool!  I used the wonderful Graphic 45 Place in Time paper pad with the March selection of papers. There are so many cool items in the paper pad, the word strips, postage stamps, graphics, and tags I just used a few other embellishments to finish of the page.

I did not preserve the clover very well, I just let it air dry, so all the color was lost.  I coated it with glossy accents to prevent it from tearing, but it did not look very pretty so I just glued it to a tag, placed a flower on the end as a pull out holder, and tucked in under the picture.  Here you can also see I used the chalk ink to coat the edges of all the papers and the photo in my layout, it helps soften the look of everything.

Here you can see a resin bird and the beautiful Memory Maze chipboard mini birdcage, I thought they looked wonderful together.

I used Gelatos in brown and dark green and water to color the "Good Luck" chipboard from Memory Maze.

**Live**

 Every year we go to an event called Burgers and Butterflies to remember our babies that we have lost.  My family goes to remember our daughter Kristen.  In this picture is my son Brandon when he was 2 years old holding one of the butterflies we set loose to help us remember our precious "butterflies" that are not longer with us.

The phrase says "Once upon a time... their lived a little girl, a precious angel that lives with the butterflies, and with the touch of a child's hand we remember her, so my wish for you .....LIVE"

I used the single word "live" as my title to help us remember to live for every moment of every day, life is to short.  I painted the "live" chippy with black acrylic paint, and then painted the vintage corner under it with gold metallic paint.

**Army Strong**

My husband is serving in Kabul, Afghanistan at Camp Phoenix as part of Task Force Centurion for the US Army.  He deployed in September 2012 and is still there, with his return date to be in June (I am so excited to have him home!!).  We miss him so much.  With this picture he sent us (rather to my oldest son for a school project) I thought it deserved a grungy layout to go with the colors of the army and also with how dirty he says everything including the air over there is.  We can't wait for you to come come Captain Reed.

I used lots of paint, mists, gelatos, inks, gesso, time, and glue to create this layout.  I used various metals, found objects and wonderful chippies.  Here are 2 square buckles, a little angel, and the back small wheel and handle bar of a penny farthing bicycle (pictures below so you can find them in my grunge)

 

Here I used the front wheel of the Penny Farthing Bicycle, another small angel, another square buckle, and the word "Best" from "best wishes".

Misty Willis~April DT Reveal

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying all of the fabulous projects and ideas that our super talented DT has been sharing!  I know I have been enjoying them!

It is a beautiful spring season here in my part of the US...I am down in Houston Texas, where the sun is shining and the flowers are blooming.  Most especially the Texas Bluebonnet!  I LOVE this flower, and I jump on every opportunity to photograph my kids in the bluebonnet fields.

Here is a layout featuring

I used several pieces of chipboard in this layout.
All of which I painted with acrylic paints and sprinkled with glitter.

More Than Friends

This is featuring the photos that I took of my oldest son and his girlfriend in the bluebonnets.

It took FOREVER to persuade this girl to wear a "girly" blouse!

She is all about T-shirts and wind pants...not a girly girl at all.

I LOVE how the photos came out, though!

And aren't the bluebonnets just spectacular!!

I used acrylic paints for these pieces also. 

I was going to stick with only blue colors, but the purples seemed to make the layout just POP! 

My son was so proud of this layout that he took a picture of it with his phone and sent it to his girlfriend.  It was adorable!   I am so glad that my hobby makes even my oldest BOY happy! 

Because honestly...scrapbooking with Chippies makes ME happy!
