ADORE

My niece is adorable so I wanted to make this layout for her with bright colourful embellishments and paper.

The word and the butterflies were painted with Smooch in taffy, sassy pink, grape soda, sugarberry, pool and top coated with Smooch in illuminate to give them a shimmery finish.

The banner was covered in paper and the edges were inked. Twine was glued to the top of the banner.

A LITTLE DIRT NEVER HURT

 

For this double layout I cut the cog frame in half on the diagonal. If you find double layouts difficult to make, try imagining them as one big page to have a nice balance to them.

The arrows were painted with Distress Stain in Brushed Pewter then Distress Stickles in Gunmetal was applied over the top. The bike riders were coated with Distress Stain in Black Soot.

The cogs were painted with Distress Stain in Brushed Pewter and the edges dabbed with Distress Stain in Black Soot.

The title matched this layout perfectly. It was base coated with Radiant Rain in Yellow Rose. The word dirt had Distress Stickles in Vintage Photo smeared over it. The other words had Smooch in gold painted on them.

The frame was base coated with Distress Stain in brushed pewter then texture paste was applied over a mask to give it raised texture. I then dabbed distress stain in  green and copper onto a craft mat and rubbed the stain onto the frame and raised parts using my finger. Messy but fun!

Hello everyone Linda here today,

January at Memory Maze if celebration month and although my page is not really a celebration of sorts, it is for me as its a celebration of noooooo flowers. That's right it has been a long time since I last created something without flowers.

Memory Maze chicken wire, cogs have been treated with gesso and rusting powder and a sweet little bird has been inked with mix'd media ink.

More chicken wire left raw.

Sign post was treated with gesso then texture paste, I then stamped a woodgrain stamp into the wet texture paste, once dry I used a mix'd media ink to colour it.

Jailed frame has been gesso'd then embossed only on some of it.

Welcome 2014 by Tracey Campbell

A New Year, a new beginning....time to celebrate!!! This time of year is always so busy with all the celebrations happening, so we are concentrating on them and show casing our layouts with the idea of celebrating in them. 

Celebrate

To kick off I have a quick and simple layout about my daughter Bronte on the day of her third birthday. This was taken while she was waiting for all her guest to arrive for her party, she was so excited.

I used the word title "Birthday Party and added some hot pink, light pink and yellow acrylic paints - so simple but effective.

For the word banner I wanted to make sure that the etched word was still visible after I had painted it so I used some bright water colour paint. I found that acrylic paint is too think and fills in the etched marks, but if you water it down then it is perfect.

Mum

 A layout of Mum and I taken at my wedding. Love this photo of the two of us, celebrating my special day together.

Memory Maze has such lovely delicate chipboard pieces that suit any occasion. In this close up I have used a decorative heart, which is painted in white Gesso, the word title "Mum" which is cut in the most loveliest of script writing and by adding just a touch of colour with some blue ink finished it off. Add a few wrought iron swirls and you can create a very feminine piece of embellishment.

By cutting and placing the wrought iron pieces underneath some flowers you can stretch your chipboard further without loosing any detail. Don't forget that Memory Maze also sells these Mulberry paper flowers in the store.

In this close up you can see some of our new poly templates at work. I have used the floral poly template with some modelling paste for a textured look and then misted with blue and purple mist.

Fun Laugh Magic

 I wanted to do a layout to celebrate life with my kids and the beautiful sunsets we have here in Darwin and when I found this 12x12 frame in the Memory Maze store I knew it was perfect.

The frame has a few stunning details that is included with the frame and separately around on the excess chipboard.  I simply used a gold Gelato and painted it onto the detail.

For the frame itself I wanted to give it a beach chic look, so I painted it brown first and then added some streaks of white Gesso over the top with a dry brush. I added some more brown in patches over the top. For the words Laugh, Fun and Magic I painted them blue with acrylic paint and then hit them with a thick layer of Candy Rock Crackle Paint by Ranger.

Hello 2014! And a very Happy New Year to you all! A new year has sprung, full of possibilities and new days ready for your story, whichever way you choose to tell it. 

January is a month of Celebration and we would love to see all your projects embracing that theme. You can continue to scrap your Christmas photos, New Year parties, birthdays and so many more things that we celebrate each and every day. I have a few more Christmas layouts to share today. Keeping it simple and really letting the chipboard pieces speak for themselves. 

Christmas Eve

Every year on Christmas Eve I always take a photo of the tree after Santa has visited. It doesn't stay this way for very long once the children wake up!

I coloured the title with a few different mediums; black sharpie, metallic sharpie and twinkling H2o's.

I then layered it on the banner piece which was also coloured using twinkling H2o's.

Santa Let Me Explain

Last year {well the one before that now ;) } we hosted the family Christmas at our house. I set up a photo booth to get some fun holiday snaps. My son had fun testing it out before our guests arrived.  

I used some of the new coloured chipboard pieces which were so easy and simple. All I needed to do was add a little highlight with my gold gel pen. 

I also used some of the pinked stars which I covered in patterned paper.
